Mr. Marvin V. Templeton worked many jobs in his career. Before co-founding his own company, he was a superintendent for a paving crew with the J. R. Ford Company. His son Harold R. Templeton, after finishing his education at Virginia Military Institute and a tour of duty in Korea, was the other co-founder of the company. In February of 1954, Marvin V. Templeton and Sons, opened their doors and began performing construction work. Marvin's daughter, Virginia T. White kept the company's books, while working full time for another company. Later she joined the company full time. His eldest son, Orion A. Templeton, graduated from the United States Naval Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and served in the Navy for twenty years. When he retired he went to work for the Company. His youngest son, Kenneth S. Templeton, graduated from Virginia Military Institute, fulfilled his military obligations, and went to work for the company, too. The company Incorporated in 1959. A. Willard ( Buck) Arthur, Jr. worked part time for Marvin V. Templeton and Sons, Inc. while attending the University of Richmond. Upon graduating went with the company full time. He was elected president of Marvin V. Templeton and Sons, Inc. in March of 1987, and Chairman of the Board in 1994. W. Durwood Royal came to work for Marvin V. Templeton and Sons, Inc. in 1978, from Rea Construction Company, and is the Executive Vice President and primary estimator. James E. (Jeb) Burton IV graduated from Virginia Military Institute and went to work for Amlite Quarry. He came to work for the company in 1983. Jeb is a Vice President, and currently is in charge of Project Scheduling. Marvin L. Templeton worked part time for the company while attending North Carolina State University, and came to work full time in 1983. He was elected President in 1994. Steven D. (Steve) Isaacs worked for the company part time while attending Virginia Tech. After receiving his degree he went to work for Lane Furniture, and came to work for the company in 1988. Steve is primarily in charge of equipment purchases and repairs. Thomas D. (Don) Hamilton came to work for the company in 1989 going from a plant laborer, to plant superintendent, and now is in charge of all asphalt plants. The most recent owner is Kenneth W. ( Ken) Arthur, after receiving his degree from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro in 1994, came to work for the company. He oversees the testing and quality control in our laboratories |
